Brenau community thankful ahead of winter holidays

A number of students participated in the Thank a Donor video, expressing their gratitude to those who made contributions to Brenau this year. The Thank a Donor video shares Brenau’s appreciation to all donors and emphasizes the importance of their generosity to programs, departments and scholarships like the Student Scholarship Fund, The Women’s College Fund, Ivester College of Health Sciences scholarship funds, the Presidential First Generation Scholarship Fund, and many others.

“Thank you, donors, from the bottom of our hearts,” one student said in the video. “There are so many students like me who wouldn’t be here without their scholarships. I’m so excited about getting my degree and building my dream career. I’m a semester from graduating and I could not have done it without you.”

Students with named scholarships also wrote thank you letters to the donors and organizations that sponsored their scholarships as part of the Grateful Tiger Project. Hand-written letters of appreciation to individuals and organizations like the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation, the Sullivan Foundation and others are sent along with the scholarship fund’s annual report.

“Brenau is grateful for its donors and supporters year round, and it is only fitting for our students, who benefit greatly from this support, to show their appreciation during this season of thanks,” Tracy Moore, director of development programs, said. “We are especially grateful for the ongoing support of Brenau’s faculty and staff, who, for the eighth year in a row, have achieved 100% giving through the annual Golden Tiger Society Give Back Campus Campaign.”

Many donors choose to commit to student, faculty and staff fundraisers, set up through the Office of University Advancement to support students and programs in their charitable endeavors. Some active fundraisers include the Occupational Therapy department’s trip to the Yucatan, the BFSA Student Scholarship Fund, and Dance Matters.

Another example of donor support of student charitable work is GOLDen Grams, a multi-day service project in which students create cards filled with well wishes to be distributed to charities. This year, cards will be sent to children in need. This annual event is sponsored by the Clipper Petroleum Foundation.

Those interested in supporting Brenau this holiday season may do so on Giving Tuesday on Nov. 29, and receive a 2023 Brenau calendar with every $25 donation. Or, make a donation online or via email at any time.
