The City of Newnan today announced that the Fire Department, led by Chief Stephen Brown, is the recipient of the Firefighter Cancer Awareness Incentive Program sponsored by LGRMS (Local Government Risk Management Services).

“I am thrilled that the City of Newnan Fire Department was selected to receive this incentive. These funds will make it possible for us to purchase equipment which will help keep our people as safe as possible from the risk of cancer,” explained Chief Brown.

This incentive program provides funds for the City Fire Department to purchase cancer risk reduction equipment for our local firefighters. Cancer is currently the leading cause of death among firefighters. January is Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month and is an important time in which to bring awareness to the elevated risk of cancer which is present for the brave men and women in the fire service.
