Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff met this week with South Korea’s Ambassador to the United States, Cho Hyundong.

Marking the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-ROK alliance, Sen. Ossoff and Ambassador Cho affirmed their shared commitments to strengthen cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Korea in commerce, security, research, and culture.

Sen. Ossoff and Amb. Cho also celebrated LG and Hyundai’s latest $4.3 billion investment in Georgia, announced by Sen. Ossoff on May 25, weeks after leading an April trade mission to South Korea.“It was a pleasure hosting Ambassador Cho to celebrate the recently announced $4.3 billion LG-Hyundai investment in Georgia,” Sen. Ossoff said. “My goal remains to establish Georgia as the world leader in advanced energy manufacturing and innovation. Our Korean partners are essential to that effort.”

“Amb. Cho had a great meeting with Senator Ossoff today. Thanks, Senator Ossoff, for his new leadership in revitalizing the Senate Korea Caucus, and congratulations on another major investment to Georgia by Hyundai and LG. We look forward to working closely with him to deepen our Alliance,” the Korean Embassy in DC wrote after the meeting.

Sen. Ossoff and Amb. Cho also celebrated the launch of the Senate Korea Caucus.

This week, Sen. Ossoff led a bipartisan coalition of senators establish the U.S. Senate Korea Caucus, focused on strengthening the U.S.-Korea alliance.

Sen. Ossoff led his second economic delegation to Seoul in April to continue pushing for additional Korean investment in Georgia.
