Sparta, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering new resources to strengthen early childhood education in Hancock County.

Sen. Ossoff is delivering new resources for the Hancock County’s Early Head Start, Head Start, and Pre-K programs to help Georgia families access early childhood education and developmental programs and give kids the opportunities to learn and grow.

The new resources, which Sen. Ossoff secured with bipartisan support in Congress, will help the Hancock County Early Childhood Programs provide comprehensive services to children to enhance their cognitive, social, and emotional development.

“I am announcing these resources for early childhood education in Hancock County because every child in Georgia deserves a safe, healthy, and happy preschool education,” Sen. Ossoff said.

Head Start programs support children’s growth from birth to age 5 through services that support early learning and development, health, and family well-being. Head Start staff actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program as key to strong child outcomes.

Hancock County offers the Head Start program, along with the Early Head Start and Pre-K programs. These programs aim to foster supportive and enriching atmospheres for young children as they approach new learning environments.

Sen. Ossoff secured the $2.5 million for Hancock County’s Head Start programs through last year’s government funding package, which will be delivered as a grant via the Head Start Projects program.

The national Head Start program currently supports nearly one million children under the age of five on their early learning and development. As of 2023, the Head Start program has benefitted 18,715 children in the state of Georgia.
