ATLANTA – Speaker of the House Jon Burns announced ongoing efforts to enhance government transparency through the House Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee.

"Our government works best when it’s working for the people—and that includes our departments and agencies," stated Speaker Jon Burns. He emphasized that since 2013, the Georgia House has been dedicated to removing obstacles to business growth statewide. Burns highlighted that this mission will persist under Chairman Tarvin's leadership, who is responsible for reducing bureaucratic regulations, ensuring transparency and efficiency in state agencies, and maintaining legislative intent throughout the rule-making process.

The committee will review state agencies to assess their compliance with codes and ensure legislative intent is considered during rule-making.

"I’m honored that the Committee on Assignments has entrusted me to conduct this important work on behalf of the citizens and businesses who call Georgia home," said Chairman Steve Tarvin. "We will work to eliminate regulatory burdens and ensure our great state maintains our designation as the Number One Place to do Business."
