Today, Speaker Jon Burns and Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper addressed President Donald Trump in a letter expressing gratitude for his dedication to rural Georgia. They requested additional federal disaster relief funds for Southeast Georgia communities affected by Hurricane Helene.

Speaker Jon Burns stated, "President Trump has championed rural communities across the nation at every turn, and we know that he will continue to deliver relief for Georgia and our neighbors across the southeast who have been devastated by Hurricane Helene."

Commissioner Tyler Harper added, "President Trump has always been a strong supporter of rural America and American agriculture, and I’m confident the Trump Administration will deliver the relief that Georgia farm families impacted by Hurricane Helene desperately need."

The letter acknowledged previous support from both Georgia's Congressional Delegation and the administration in securing partial federal disaster relief. It highlighted ongoing challenges faced by these communities, including significant financial losses and clean-up costs. The letter also referenced FEMA's extension of application deadlines for North Carolinians affected by the hurricane and urged similar extensions for 41 counties in Southeast Georgia included in the Major Disaster Declaration.
