State Representative Mary Ann Santos has introduced House Resolution 399, aiming to establish a committee focused on improving one-way street markings. The proposed House Study Committee on One-way Street Markings would explore methods to enhance the clarity and visibility of these signs, especially for new drivers, seniors, and those unfamiliar with local streets.
"This committee will focus on exploring ways to improve the clarity and visibility of one-way street signs, particularly for new drivers, seniors and individuals who are unfamiliar with our streets," said Rep. Santos. "It is my hope that this study will highlight the urgent need for better one-way street markings, ultimately helping to prevent accidents and safeguard lives by ensuring that everyone can navigate our streets safely."
If approved, the committee will conduct a comprehensive study to identify best practices for pavement markings on one-way streets. This includes determining which streets should be marked with roadway paint and evaluating the fiscal impact of any legislative requirements related to these markings. A report of their findings and recommendations is expected by December 1, 2025.
