The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced a series of lane closures as part of the ongoing I-285/I-20 West Interchange project. The work, which is contingent on weather conditions, will temporarily affect state route and interstate lanes to facilitate survey activities crucial for the project's design phase.
Scheduled nighttime closures are set from Monday, March 10 through Friday, March 14, 2025. Each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be a single center-lane closure on State Route (SR) 280/Hamilton E. Holmes Drive southbound between I-20 westbound and I-20 eastbound.
Additionally, single left-lane and left-shoulder closures will occur along various segments of I-285 southbound and northbound at US 78/US 278/SR 8/Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. These closures stretch from mile marker (MM) 11.8 to MM 10.0 for southbound lanes and MM 10 to MM 11.8 for northbound lanes.
Further disruptions include single left-lane closures on SR 70/Fulton Industrial Boulevard in both directions between Shirley Drive and Wendell Drive.
On I-20, drivers should expect left-lane and shoulder closures westbound from Linkwood Road overpass (MM 51.4) to Factory Shoals Road overpass (MM 45.4), and eastbound from Factory Shoals Road overpass (MM 45.4) to Linkwood Road overpass (MM 51.4).
Motorists are advised that exact times may change due to weather conditions, with potential intermittent traffic pacing and additional lane or ramp closures within the work zone also possible. Drivers should anticipate delays, reduce speed through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers.
