Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) will temporarily close lanes on state routes and interstates for survey activities as part of the I-285/I-20 West Interchange project. The initiative aims to reconstruct and widen several ramps at the interchange and add various lanes along I-20 west and I-285 north.
Nighttime closures are scheduled from Monday, March 17, through Friday, March 21, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. These closures include single left-lane and left-shoulder closures at specified locations:
On I-20 westbound from Linkwood Road overpass (mile marker 51.4) to Factory Shoals Road overpass (mile marker 45.4), and on I-20 eastbound from Factory Shoals Road overpass to Linkwood Road overpass.
On Tuesday, March 18, through Friday, March 21, similar closures will occur on I-285 southbound at US 278/SR 8/Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway (mile markers ranging from 11.8 to 10) and on I-285 northbound at the same location in reverse order.
The advisory notes that times may change due to weather conditions. Motorists should expect delays and exercise caution while traveling through work zones. Real-time information is available by calling 511 or visiting the website 511ga.org.
