State Representative Butch Parrish has been reappointed as vice chairman of the Geo. L. Smith II Georgia World Congress Center Authority Overview Committee by House Speaker Jon Burns. Parrish, who also serves as Chairman of the House Rules Committee, expressed his gratitude for the reappointment.
“I am deeply grateful to Speaker Jon Burns for reappointing me as vice chairman of the Geo. L. Smith II Georgia World Congress Center Authority Overview Committee,” said Rep. Parrish. “This committee plays an essential role in ensuring that the Georgia World Congress Center Authority continues to be an effective steward of Georgia’s valuable assets, including the Georgia World Congress Center, Centennial Olympic Park and Mercedes-Benz Stadium."
The committee is tasked with reviewing and assessing the operations of the GWCCA, which was established in 1971 to oversee what is now known as the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
Rep. Parrish will serve on this committee while he remains a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
The center is named after George Leon Smith II from Emanuel County, who was a mentor to Rep. Parrish and served in the state legislature for nearly three decades.
