The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures on the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project. These closures are planned to occur from April 11 to April 18, 2025, as part of efforts to reconstruct the interchange's system-to-system ramps and to add connecting and auxiliary lanes.
The scheduled daylight lane closures on I-20 Eastbound will take place from Wesley Chapel Road to Panola Road and Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road. Additionally, the connecting lanes from the I-285 Interchange to Wesley Chapel Road will see closures during this period. The daytime closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays from April 11 to April 18.
From April 11 through April 18, overnight closures are also planned for I-20 Eastbound and Westbound, with lane closures extending from Wesley Chapel Road to Panola Road and Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road. These overnight closures will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 5 a.m. Furthermore, traffic pacing operations will occur overnight from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., impacting areas from Wesley Chapel Road to Columbia Drive.
Georgia DOT has also scheduled flagging operations on Snapfinger Road under the I-285 overpass and Miller Road, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily between April 11 and April 18. The Miller Road Bridge over I-20 will remain closed until approximately September 2025, with a detour in place for the duration.
The department advises motorists to exercise caution while driving through these areas and to expect delays due to the lane closures and traffic pacing operations.
