The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced continued road work throughout Southeast Georgia from April 12 to April 18. This ongoing construction and maintenance are part of essential projects affecting various interstates and county roads. Due to the unpredictable nature of weather, all scheduled work is subject to change.
GDOT has advised motorists to slow down, pay attention, and remain vigilant when traveling through work zones due to potential lane closures and traffic interruptions.
Key activities are planned along Interstate 95, including repairs, lane closures, and maintenance, specifically at the Florida state line and several mileposts in Chatham and Camden Counties. Nightly single-lane closures and shoulder closures are anticipated as part of these operations.
Interstate 16 also faces several ongoing projects involving bridge repairs and lane closures. Chatham and Bulloch Counties are among the affected areas with maintenance and preconstruction activities scheduled day and night.
In terms of bridge and road closures, detours will be established on several routes, including Antioch Church Rd in Clinch County and Birdford Lake Rd in Tattnall County due to bridge replacements and storm damage repairs respectively. Closures on Post Rd in Jeff Davis County will also take place for similar reasons.
Resurfacing projects will impact roads in Liberty, Wayne, Appling, Telfair, and Montgomery Counties with daily lane closures planned for asphalt resurfacing and pavement operations.
Additional traffic interruptions can be expected on DeRenne Ave and US 17/SR 25 among others, where road widening, paving operations, and bridge work will require varying lane closures and restrictions.
GDOT emphasizes the importance of staying updated with real-time information regarding road work status and traffic conditions. Residents and travelers are encouraged to use the 511 service or app for detailed information.
