The state Attorney General's Office last week last week indicted eight individuals for 54 gang and human trafficking charges.

A Dougherty County grand jury returned the indictment on July 28, naming Bryant Hooker, Johnny Howard, Jamie Rosier, Treshawn Smith, Jeston Yates, Ronaldo Patterson, Korina Johnson and Robert Wingfield, according to a press release from the Attorney General's Office.

The office said they are all members of the Inglewood Family Gangster Bloods (IFGB), also known as the Inglewood Family Gang (IFG) and The Family.

IFGB is a subset of the larger criminal street gang known as the Bloods, which includes numerous "cliques." In Dougherty County, IFG is part of the 80’s Street a/k/a Rollin 80’s clique.

Attorney General Chris Carr said these individuals have been victimizing innocent citizens, and his office would continue to hold gang members accountable.

“Gangs are behind the crime wave that is affecting Georgia communities, and members are willing to commit horrific acts to help fuel their illegal activities,” he tweeted. “We will continue to vigorously prosecute gang members for their crimes, and we look forward to presenting this case – which contends there is a nexus between gangs and human trafficking – in court.”

According to the press release, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit found evidence that a victim was physically and sexually assaulted, drugged, held against their will and placed into sexual servitude by the known gang members allegedly to generate money for their gang.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp tweeted that he and his family were grateful for the unit’s work to get these criminals off the streets.

“Marty, the girls and I are grateful for the brave men and women of law enforcement who work every day to bring human trafficking and gang violence to an end. Thank you to @Georgia_AG and @GBI_GA for fighting to bring these traffickers to justice,” Kemp wrote.

Among the charges the defendants face are violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, conspiracy to participate in an enterprise through a pattern of racketeering activity, rape, violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, aggravated sodomy, simple battery, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, trafficking of persons for sexual servitude and pimping.
