The University of Georgia women's golf team finished sixth at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship Sept. 24-26.
At the time, the team was ranked No. 5 and had finished fourth in the season opener at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina, which featured 36 holes, according to a university press release.
Prior to the tournament, head coach Josh Brewer said in the release that it was important for the team to keep competing in live competition.
"We're excited to compete," Brewer said. "We'll just try to maintain the same mindset and approach. I think it's a golf course that it fits us and what we do. Right now, I would argue any course would fit us."
During the Cougar Classic, Georgia had a combined 16-under score, giving them a five-stroke lead and a school record 14-under, 274 score in the second round, the release said.
Brewer said that despite the setback, he thought the team would soon find the chemistry to start winning.
"Team wise, it was a little frustrating," Brewer said in a press release. "We played well the last two days but really didn't give ourselves a chance of winning after the first round. Once we can put three days together, it will be a special tournament. We just need to figure out how to put all 54 holes together. We've played plenty of rounds under par, and we know that's coming."
Jo Hua Hung competed individually and finished with a career-low 6-under 66 effort, the release said.
Hung was the Bulldogs' top individual finisher, ending up fifth at 7-under 209, the release said. In addition, Jenny Bae tied for 15th at 3-under 213, Caroline Craig tied for 27th at 217, Caterina Don tied for 31st at 218, Isabella Holpfer tied for 50th at 222 and Candice Mahé tied for 66th at 225.
