Tickets are on sale to attend the University of Georgia's 1st Pitch Banquet in the William Porter Payne and Porter Otis Payne Indoor Athletic Facility on Feb. 5.
The banquet will feature veteran Major League Baseball pitcher and former Bulldog Alex Wood, plus the 2022 Georgia baseball team.
"The highlights of the dinner event include hearing from Wood who has enjoyed a nine-year career in the major leagues including winning a World Series [with the 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers] and being named an All-Star," the school said on its website.
Attendees will also have the chance to meet the 2022 Georgia Bulldogs and coaching staff, plus they can participate in a silent auction.
Georgia's 2022 squad has eight returning starting position players and 13 pitchers who logged innings during the 2021 season.
Wood posted a 10-4 record and 3.83 ERA in 26 starts for the San Francisco Giants in helping them capture the 2021 National League Western Division title with a franchise-record 107 wins.
Wood made his Major League debut in 2013 with the Atlanta Braves, after they selected him out of the University of Georgia in the second round of the 2012 MLB draft. Overall, he has played for the Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Dodgers and Giants.
In 2017, Wood was named an All-Star while he was with the Dodgers and then went on to win the 2020 World Series with them.
Earlier this month he re-signed with the Giants.
