Bryan McClendon returns to Georgia football coaching staff as passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.
All of this happened within less than a month from the time Bryan took up his new job in Miami, Florida. He had followed Cristobal to Miami where he was receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator.
"Bringing another Dawg back home. Welcome back," the school posted on Twitter.
McClendon was a four-year letter-winner with Bulldogs' football program.
Set to return as passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach, McClendon served as receivers coach on school's 2005 Southeastern Conference championship team. Hence, this will be his second stint here. In 2005, he had 35 catches for 529 yards and a team-high six TDs. Back in 2007, he began as a grad assistant after which he was named running backs coach in 2019. He coached the running backs from 2009 to 2014 and after that, he left for South Carolina. There, he spent four seasons coaching players for NFL like Shi Smith, Deebo Samuel and Bryan Edwards. In the 2018 and 2019 Gamecocks seasons, he was the official coordinator.
In 2021, McClendon served as passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Oregon. At Georgia, McClendon is continuing a family legacy. Willie McClendon, Bryan’s father, was the 1978 Southeastern Conference player of the year as a Georgia running back. After that, his nephew, Warren McClendon, was the starting right tackle this past season as Georgia won its first national title ever since 1980.
