Georgia freshman softball pitcher Kylie Macy was named the Southeastern Conference’s Co-Freshman of the Week on Feb. 28 after pitching a perfect, five-inning game against Bryant.
Macy struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced and didn’t allow a baserunner in five scoreless innings. She struck out the first nine batters she faced.
"I'm really proud of Kylie and happy for her to be recognized this week," Georgia head coach Tony Baldwin said in a story on the UGA website. "She keeps improving each week and she is a real competitor in circle."
Macy’s perfect game was the 11thin school history and the first since 2016 when Chelsea Wilkinson and Kylie Bass combined to throw a perfect game against Georgia Tech.
For the week, Bulldog pitchers combined to allow only four earned runs in five games, striking out 46 batters and walking just eight walks in 33 innings.
"I am really excited about the progress our pitchers are making," Baldwin said. "We aren't where we want to be yet but we are making strides every day.”
With a victory over North Carolina on Feb. 26, Georgia improved to 14-2 on the season. The Bulldogs will return to action when they face Appalachian State, Ohio, and Massachusetts during the 13thAnnual Bulldog Classic beginning March 5.
