Atlanta Braves legend Chipper Jones recently criticized his former teammate Freddie Freeman for leaving the Braves to play for their rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Freeman signed a $162 million six-year contract with the Dodgers, CBS Sports reported. The defending champion Braves offered Freeman a $135 million five-year contract before the start of the offseason, but the first baseman turned it down.
"I do not agree with the way that this was handled on Freddie's side," Jones told Atlanta radio station The Fan. "If you want to play in Atlanta, you play in Atlanta. You maybe take a little less to be happy and play in a place that is comfortable for you."
As talks with Freeman stagnated, the Braves moved to instead sign free-agent first baseman Matt Olson, who last played for the Oakland Athletics, CBS Sports reported.
