Gov. Kemp Announces Appointments to Superior Court, State Courts

Governor Brian P. Kemp of Georgia has revealed his latest judicial appointments, with four individuals being named to various courts in the state. The appointments include the Honorable Matthew Rollins to the Superior Court of the Paulding Judicial Circuit, Matthew Swope to the State Court of Coweta County, the Honorable Charles Bailey to the State Court of Dekalb County Division A, and the Honorable Phyllis Williams to the State Court of Dekalb County Division B.

District Attorney Matthew Rollins will be stepping into the role at the Superior Court of the Paulding Judicial Circuit, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of the Honorable Tonny S. Beavers. Rollins, a former member of the United States Marine Corps, has a background in law and has been actively involved in his community. He is described as an active member of various organizations and resides in Acworth with his family.

Matthew Swope, currently a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Coweta County office of the Coweta Judicial Circuit, has been appointed to the State Court of Coweta County. Swope's legal career has seen him involved in various capacities, and he is a member of several legal associations. He and his wife are expecting their first child later this year.

Charles E. Bailey, who has been serving on Division B of the State Court of DeKalb County since 2022, has now been appointed to Division A of the same court. Before his judicial career, Bailey worked in mental health services and higher education administration. He is actively involved in community service and resides in Decatur with his family.

Phyllis R. Williams, currently an Associate Judge in the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County, will be moving to the State Court of Dekalb County Division B. With over 25 years of experience as a trial attorney, Williams is a prominent figure in the legal community. She has a strong background in law and is actively involved in various legal associations and community organizations.

The new appointees bring a wealth of experience and dedication to their new roles within the Georgia judicial system. Governor Kemp's selections aim to strengthen the state's courts and ensure the continued delivery of justice to its residents.
