Georgia's Attorney General, Chris Carr, has voiced his opposition to policies that allow biological males to compete in female sports. He stated that these policies are detrimental to women's sports and should be repealed.
"Start by repealing your absurd policies that allow biological males to compete against females," said General Chris Carr, according to his post on X. "You're destroying women's sports."
Carr's comments were made in response to a post by President Joe Biden which read, "As a nation, we need to support women’s sports by showing up in person and watching on TV – with more sponsorships and programming. Not just during championships. But all year round. Let's grow women’s sports and continue inspiring the nation."

According to a press release from the Office of the Attorney General, Carr has filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration's revised Title IX rule. He argues that this rule undermines the principles of women's sports and mandates the sharing of bathrooms between males and females. The Biden administration has redefined Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination in federally funded education programs, to include "gender identity" and "sexual orientation".
The lawsuit is not a solo effort by Carr; he is joined by attorneys general from Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina. Several organizations including the Independent Women’s Law Center, the Independent Women’s Network, Parents Defending Education, and Speech First Inc., are also part of this legal action.
Carr was appointed as Georgia's attorney general by then-Governor Nathan Deal in 2016 and was re-elected in November 2022. According to information from his office, since taking up his role as attorney general, Carr has focused on addressing issues such as human trafficking, gang activity, and opioid misuse. This includes establishing Georgia's first Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit and Gang Prosecution Unit. Prior to this role, Carr served as commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development during which time Georgia was recognized as a top state for business with significant investment and job creation.
