The Department of Corrections Facilities Study Committee, chaired by Majority Whip Randy Robertson (R–Cataula), will hold its first hearing on Friday, August 23, at 9:00 a.m.

This event is open to the public and will be live-streamed on the Senate website.

ABOUT THE MEETING:

The meeting will include testimony from leadership within the Georgia Department of Corrections regarding the status of Georgia’s correctional facilities. The Department of Corrections Facilities Study Committee was created to examine current issues impacting the Georgia Department of Corrections’ ability to operate secure and safe facilities. The committee will determine whether legislative measures are necessary to ensure the welfare of the department’s employees and those in its custody.
