State Representative Saira Draper, a Democrat from Atlanta, has been elected by the House Democratic Caucus to serve as the House Minority Caucus Chief Deputy Whip. The election took place during caucus elections on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Rep. Draper expressed gratitude for the support she received from her colleagues. "My thanks to our caucus for their support of me in assuming this role as Minority Chief Deputy Whip," she stated. Reflecting on recent national events, Draper emphasized the importance of continuing efforts for their constituents: "Our country’s recent events have been disappointing, but it has reminded our caucus of why we go to battle for our constituents."

In her new role, Draper will collaborate with the Minority Whip and oversee legislation as it progresses through both chambers of the General Assembly. She will also assist members of the Minority Caucus in understanding bills and resolutions.

This marks Rep. Draper's second term in the Georgia House of Representatives and her first term serving as Minority Caucus Chief Deputy Whip.
