Senator Gail Davenport is set to participate in two significant events this weekend honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. The 34th Clayton County Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast will take place on Saturday, January 18, at 8:30 a.m. at The Morrow Center located in the Southlake Mall's Exhibition Hall in Morrow, Georgia. The event is open to the public.
Additionally, the 40th Clayton County MLK Ecumenical Service is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, at 3:30 p.m. It will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Georgia. This service is also open to all members of the community.
Senator Davenport expressed her pride in celebrating Dr. King's legacy ahead of his birthday on Monday, January 20. "A son of Georgia, I am proud to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. in the days leading up to his birthday on Monday, January 20th," she stated. "We can always do more to honor Dr. King for his revolutionary life’s work and the systemic change he helped bring about in our country. I look forward to sharing the festivities with all the attendees this weekend."
