The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced a temporary traffic shift on I-20 eastbound, set to begin overnight on Friday, March 14. This change is part of the ongoing I-285/I-20 East Interchange project. The traffic shift will occur between Wesley Chapel Road and the Miller Road overpass to facilitate bridge construction and widening in the area.

Construction work for this new traffic pattern will commence at 9 p.m. on Friday. Motorists traveling eastbound on I-20 will experience a shift to the left, moving toward the center of the roadway over Snapfinger Creek, before returning to the existing mainline lanes near Miller Road. To aid drivers in navigating this temporary alignment, the roadway will be restriped with added raised pavement markings and a temporary barrier wall.

This phase of bridge widening over Snapfinger Creek, along with the new traffic pattern, is expected to remain in place throughout the year until it transitions into its final configuration. Drivers are advised to stay alert while passing through this corridor and plan for potential delays as construction continues.

As with any construction project, scheduling may change due to weather or other unforeseen factors. Updates on traffic impacts will be available via GA 511, the project's website, and Georgia DOT's social media channels.

For further inquiries or concerns about this project, individuals can contact Georgia DOT by email at eastinterchange@dot.ga.gov.
