Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced a planned traffic shift on I-20 eastbound as part of the ongoing I-285/I-20 East Interchange project. The change, weather permitting, is set to begin overnight on Friday, March 14.

Construction crews will start work at 9 p.m. on Friday. Drivers traveling eastbound on I-20 should anticipate a shift to the left, towards the center of the roadway over Snapfinger Creek. The traffic will then transition back to the mainline lanes approaching Miller Road.

This temporary pattern is part of the bridge widening over Snapfinger Creek and will remain until year-end before moving into its final setup. Motorists are advised to stay alert and plan for potential delays in this corridor.

The construction schedule may be adjusted due to weather or other conditions. Updates regarding traffic impacts will be available through GA 511, the project website, and Georgia DOT's social media channels.

Georgia DOT emphasizes its commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient transportation system that benefits Georgia’s economy while being mindful of environmental and community concerns. More details about Georgia DOT can be found on their website or social media platforms.
