The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced potential traffic impacts due to the 16@95 Improvement Projects. These projects involve widening I-16 and reconstructing the I-16/I-95 Interchange. Weather permitting, construction partners will close interstate lanes and ramps at specific locations for these activities.

Daytime lane closures are scheduled from Tuesday, March 18, through Saturday, March 22, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., affecting both directions of I-16 and I-516 at various points. Nighttime closures will occur during the same period from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., with additional double-lane closures on I-95 near the I-16 overpass.

A long-term closure is in effect on Tremont Road under I-16 until May 31, 2025. Detours are provided for motorists traveling north or south of this area.

Work restrictions will be observed during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday from noon on Friday, March 14, until Tuesday, March 18, at 6 a.m., with no road closures or work interfering with traffic.

Future projected closures include daytime and nighttime lane restrictions from Monday, March 24, through Saturday, April 5. Specific detours have been planned to avoid conflicts and ensure proper traffic maintenance.

For real-time updates on traffic impacts related to these projects, visit Georgia NaviGAtor at www.511ga.org.

"Motorists traveling on Tremont Road north of I-16 should take Telfair Road northbound," advises Georgia DOT regarding long-term detour routes.
