The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced a temporary closure of the park-and-ride lot at GA-53 and Wallis Road in Oakwood. This is due to necessary maintenance work scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025, and expected to last until the afternoon of Monday, March 31, 2025.
The closure is part of GDOT's regular maintenance efforts aimed at ensuring the safety and condition of transportation facilities. Motorists who use this facility are advised to seek alternative travel arrangements during this time. To assist drivers, Changeable Message Boards will be installed on-site to provide advance notice.
Commuters can use an alternate park-and-ride lot located at GA-13 and Thurmond Tanner Parkway during the maintenance period. This alternative is less than two miles from the closed location and will remain operational.
GDOT expressed understanding for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure. They appreciate public patience and cooperation as they complete the necessary work to ensure long-term reliability and safety of park-and-ride facilities in support of Georgia’s commuters.
Travelers are encouraged to stay updated with real-time information by following GDOTNE on social media.
