The runoffs for the U.S. Senate seats in Georgia have much wider implications than the state.
Should Democrat challengers win those seats, the U.S. Senate would revert to Democratic Party control in a 50-50 split where ties would be broken by a vice presidential vote.
“These two runoffs are probably the most important runoffs in American history. They have the potential to change the whole direction of the country, because if we win Biden would have to be much more moderate, and if they can elect Ossoff and Warnock, Biden will have a signal to be very radical,” former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich told NTD.
U.S. Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, are both incumbents although Loeffler was appointed to her seat last year.
The pair put out a statement on Monday, Dec. 14 - the day early voting began - requesting the issues from from the Nov. 3 election be fixed prior to the runoff election on Jan. 5.
“In-person early voting starts today, and the public remains without a full accounting of who is registered and who may attempt to cast a ballot in the runoff,” the statement read. “This lack of transparency needs to be rectified immediately, or the integrity of our elections will remain threatened.”
