Recent findings by the Georgia Department of Labor (DOL) suggest that Georgia's economic state currently ranks among the top 10 states experiencing economic growth, managing to avoid the decline other states experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Peach State’s unemployment rate has declined for 14 consecutive straight months, currently sitting well below the national average at 3.7%.
In June, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp ceased the receipt of additional federal unemployment insurance dollars and reinstated work-search requirements. The result was a massive reduction in unemployment claims.
A recent Forbes article noted that Georgia ranks ninth among states that have experienced the largest amount of growth, with its GDP only declining 2.5% from 2019 to 6.2% in 2020, a full percentage point from the national average.
