Freshman Senator Kenya Wicks has been appointed as the Deputy Whip of the Senate Minority Caucus. Sen. Wicks, representing District 34, which covers parts of Clayton and Fayette Counties, expressed her gratitude for this new role: “Serving as Deputy Whip as a freshman Senator is truly an honor. I greatly appreciate this vote of confidence from my fellow party members, and I want to thank Minority Whip Sen. Kim Jackson for this appointment. I am ready to get to work for this caucus by assisting with advocacy, planning for the rest of session and following through with our priorities.”

The leadership team for the Minority Caucus is composed of several key figures: Sen. Harold Jones II serves as the Minority Leader for District 22 in Augusta; Sen. Kim Jackson is the Minority Whip from District 41 in Stone Mountain; Sen. Elena Parent holds the position of Minority Caucus Chair representing District 44 in Atlanta; Sen. Sonya Halpern is the Vice Chair from District 39 in Atlanta; Sen. Jason Esteves serves as Finance Chair from District 35 in Atlanta; and Sen. Nan Orrock acts as Secretary from District 36 in Atlanta.

In addition to her new role within the Senate Minority Caucus, Sen. Wicks was elected Vice Chair of the Clayton County Senate Delegation. This delegation includes other notable senators such as Gail Davenport from Jonesboro and Elena Parent from Atlanta.

The leadership board for Clayton County consists of Chair Gail Davenport (District 17), Vice Chair Kenya Wicks (District 34), and Secretary Elena Parent (District 44). This group works together to address issues pertinent to residents of Clayton County.
