State Representative Teddy Reese of Columbus has been recognized as the 2025 Legislator of the Year by the State of Georgia chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The announcement was made during the sorority's Day at the Capitol event in Atlanta.
Representative Reese expressed his appreciation for the award, stating, “I am truly surprised and deeply honored to be named the 2025 Georgia Legislator of the Year by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.” He added that this recognition highlights how one's work is noticed even when it seems otherwise. “God is maneuvering in incredible ways, and I am moved beyond words," he said. "I am grateful to AKA for this recognition and for their continued support and commitment to our communities.”
Alpha Kappa Alpha is an international service organization established at Howard University in Washington, D.C., in 1908. It holds the distinction of being the oldest Greek-letter organization founded by African American college-educated women.
