State Representatives Kim Schofield, Viola Davis, Sandra Scott, and State Senator Nan Orrock are set to introduce House Bill 16, known as the Warehouse Workplace Protection Act. The announcement will be made at a press conference scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2025, at noon on the South Steps of the Georgia State Capitol.

Representative Schofield emphasized the importance of this legislation by stating, “We’re just getting started in building support for this bill, and workers will be meeting with lawmakers directly during our upcoming lobby day.” She added that the national Warehouse Worker Protection Act has received bipartisan support and expressed optimism about engaging in productive discussions with legislators from both political parties.

The proposed HB 16 aims to address safety concerns within Georgia's warehouses as major retailers continue to expand their operations across the state. During the press conference, local warehouse workers will share their experiences related to unsafe working conditions.
