Georgia representatives host Honoring Heroes Day for school staff

State Representatives Kim Schofield, Rhonda Burnough, Sandra Scott, and Viola Davis will host an event called Honoring Heroes Day on February 28, 2025. The event will take place at the Georgia State Capitol at 8:30 a.m.

The purpose of this gathering is to acknowledge the efforts of school bus drivers and school food service staff from public schools in Atlanta, Fulton, Clayton, and DeKalb counties. These individuals are recognized for their contributions to their communities.

Rep. Schofield expressed her gratitude by stating, “I am profoundly grateful for our school bus drivers and food service workers, whose dedication and hard work reflect our core values of safety, care and service.” She emphasized the importance of their commitment to student well-being.

Rep. Burnough highlighted the essential services provided by these workers: “It is my honor to thank those who greet the students every day, maintain the facilities and provide breakfast and lunch.”

Rep. Scott also acknowledged their role in supporting students' success: “We honor the dedicated bus drivers and cafeteria workers of Georgia who play an essential role in the success and well-being of our students.”

Rep. Davis remarked on their crucial function within the education system: “School bus drivers and food service workers are the backbone of our education system, ensuring that our children arrive safely at school and receive the nourishment they need to thrive.”

The honorees will be recognized in the House Chamber during this event.
