Motorists in the area of SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85 northbound Frontage Road should prepare for weekend closures starting March 7. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced that these closures are necessary for beam settings on a new braided ramp bridge.
The detour will direct drivers traveling eastbound and westbound on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to use I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road to access I-85 northbound. Pacing will occur while beams are being set, but motorists will still be able to access the I-85 northbound on-ramp.
The specific closure times are from Saturday, March 8, at 8 p.m. until Sunday, March 9, at 8 a.m. GDOT advises motorists to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed when driving through work zones. Real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions can be accessed by calling 511 or visiting the website 511ga.org.
