The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures on the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project. Weather permitting, these closures will occur from March 21 through March 28, 2025. The project aims to reconstruct system-to-system ramps at the interchange and add various lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north.
Daytime closures will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., impacting I-20 eastbound with single-lane and shoulder closures between Wesley Chapel Road and Panola Road, as well as Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road. Additionally, connecting lanes or collector-distributor lanes will see similar closures from the I-285 Interchange to Wesley Chapel Road.
Overnight closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., involving single to double-lane and shoulder closures on I-20 eastbound in multiple segments, including between Wesley Chapel Road and Panola Road, as well as Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road. From 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., there will be right-lane and shoulder closures on I-285 southbound from Glenwood to the interchange, while northbound will see left-lane and shoulder closures from Columbia to the interchange.
For westbound traffic on I-20, alternating lane closures are planned from Panola Road to Wesley Chapel Road between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., with traffic pacing operations occurring between Wesley Chapel Road and Columbia Drive during late night hours.
Miller Road Bridge over I-20 remains closed until approximately September 2025 due to ongoing construction activities related to this project.
