The Georgia House of Representatives' Committee on Assignments has reappointed State Representative Lynn Smith as the Chair of the House Natural Resources and Environment Committee. This marks another term for Rep. Smith, who represents Newnan and is a member of the Republican Party.

Rep. Smith expressed her gratitude for the reappointment, stating, "It’s an honor to once more serve as chair of this important, impactful committee." She highlighted her commitment over two decades to balancing environmental and economic issues in Georgia while aiming to improve the quality of life for its citizens. She added, "I look forward to working alongside my committee colleagues to prioritize legislation that supports the abundance of natural resources in our great state."

The responsibility for making all House committee assignments lies with the House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns from Newington.

The focus of the House Natural Resources and Environment Committee includes managing legislation related to Georgia's natural resources. The committee comprises two standing subcommittees: Environmental Quality and Resource Management. Each piece of legislation is assigned based on its subject matter.
