The first week of the 2025 Legislative Session in Georgia has concluded, with lawmakers focusing on a range of issues affecting residents across the state. Senator Larry Walker, III (R–Perry) expressed his commitment to addressing key concerns under the Gold Dome.

Governor Brian P. Kemp has set forth a vision that includes increasing funding for school safety, enhancing the skilled workforce, aiding families impacted by Hurricane Helene, and expanding access to affordable healthcare. "By investing in high-demand, high-skill, and high-wage career opportunities, we are taking critical steps to secure Georgia’s economic future," said Walker.

Walker emphasized his priority of reforming occupational licensing processes in Georgia. He served on the Joint Blue-Ribbon Committee on Licensing Issues during the interim and is now part of the Special Joint Committee Investigating Licensing Issues. The goal is to reform outdated non-renewal and inspection policies to facilitate business operations in Georgia.

Supporting recovery efforts for communities affected by Hurricane Helene remains a pressing issue. Governor Kemp announced $100 million in initial funding as part of these efforts. "The Senate is committed to ensuring these communities have the necessary tools to rebuild," Walker stated.

In his annual “State of the State” address, Governor Kemp highlighted tort litigation reform as an urgent need due to Georgia's challenging legal climate. Walker supports this initiative: "We must work to reduce skyrocketing insurance premiums and ensure that businesses are not weighed down by frivolous lawsuits or excessive litigation costs."

Walker will continue as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Labor this session and aims to help advance tort reform legislation through the Senate. He also serves as Secretary of several other committees and was re-elected as Secretary of the Majority Caucus.

"It is an honor beyond measure to serve the people of the 20th Senate District," Walker concluded, inviting constituents to contact his office with any legislative concerns.
