State Representative Eric Bell of Jonesboro will be hosting an event to honor the legacy of Civil Rights advocate and minister Rev. Clarice Marijetta Wyatt Bell Church on April 2, 2025. The event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. at the South Wing Steps of the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta.
Rev. Clarice Church, a cousin of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., significantly contributed to civil rights, including her involvement in the desegregation of Grady Memorial Hospital. She was an alumna and educator associated with Spelman College, Atlanta University, Howard University, and the Atlanta Housing Authority. At the age of 74, she became an ordained minister and later earned a Doctor of Ministry degree at 77.
The Pray-a-Thon will include participation from pastors and faith leaders such as Bishop Donald Battle of Divine Faith Ministries International, Pastor Dr. Diane Rodriguez-Burton and Pastor Dr. Robert Burton of Greater Works Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and several others from across Georgia.
