Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced lane closures as part of the 16@95 Improvement Projects. The ongoing projects, aimed at widening Interstate 16 (I-16) and reconstructing the I-16/I-95 Interchange, will lead to intermittent closures of interstate lanes.

Scheduled lane closures will take place during the day and night from April 7 through April 12. Daytime closures between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. will affect I-16 westbound from the I-16/I-516 Interchange to the I-16/I-95 Interchange, and I-16 eastbound from the I-16/I-95 Interchange to the I-16/I-516 Interchange. I-516 westbound and eastbound at the I-16 Interchange will also see closures.

Nighttime work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. will continue the pattern of closures, with the addition of double lane closures on I-95 at the I-16 overpass. The I-16 eastbound to I-516 westbound ramp (Exit 164B) will have nightly closures, suggesting alternative routes for motorists.

The public is advised to stay informed on traffic conditions through Georgia DOT's 511 services. Delays are expected, and drivers should exercise caution and reduce speed within work zones.

According to Georgia DOT, "Exact time may change due to weather conditions. There may be intermittent traffic pacing and lane and ramp closures that occur within the work zone in addition to this notice. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers."

Georgia DOT's mission is to enhance Georgia's transportation infrastructure with a focus on innovation and safety.
