Senator Kenya Wicks was sworn into the Georgia State Senate on January 13, marking the start of her tenure representing Georgia's 34th District. This district includes parts of Clayton and Fayette counties. "It is an honor to serve the citizens of Georgia under the Gold Dome," Wicks stated. She emphasized her commitment to addressing the needs of her constituents and encouraged them to reach out to her office during the legislative session.

Wicks has been appointed as Deputy Minority Whip and will serve on several Senate committees, including Veterans, Military and Homeland Security, Science & Technology, Urban Affairs, Public Safety, and Government Oversight.

Before entering politics, Wicks had a distinguished military career in the United States Army. She rose from enlisted ranks to Sergeant before being commissioned through Officer Candidate School in 2008. After 30 years of service, she retired as a Major.

Following her military service, Wicks worked as Chief of Staff for outgoing Senator Valencia Seay. She has also been active in community service roles such as Vice Chairing the Fayette County Democratic Committee and volunteering with organizations like CASA and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
