"I don't want to sugarcoat the situation. We are reaching a critical point in this fight. What we ask is that you please do your best to limit the spread of COVID-19," Carol Burrell, president and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System, said on the organization's Facebook page.
Based on the information available on the state tracking system, 91% of the ICU beds in Georgia are already full, along with 76% of the emergency beds, and more than 5,500 patients suffering from COVID-19 have been hospitalized, according to WSB-TV.
As of Sept. 3, the percentage of ventilators in use was already 78%, the highest since the pandemic's beginning, the Gainesville Times reported.
The Northeast Georgia Health System has 317 Covid-19 patients under its care, according to Gainesville Times. The number of patients reached its highest, 355, in January. The Northeast Georgia Health System estimates that this number will be surpassed in September.
