This week, Senator Jason Anavitarte introduced a resolution to rename an intersection in Paulding County in honor of Deputy Brandon Cunningham. Senate Resolution 8 proposes to designate the intersection of State Route 92 and State Route 120 as the "Deputy Brandon Cunningham Memorial Intersection."

Senator Anavitarte stated, "Back in October, I promised to prioritize Deputy Cunningham’s memorial for the 2025 legislative session. With this in mind, I am proud to author SR 8, an impactful piece of legislation that will honor Deputy Cunningham for his life of service. Deputy Cunningham went above and beyond while wearing the uniform, so we should remember and commemorate his extraordinary sacrifice."

Deputy Brandon Cunningham died in August 2024 while on duty. He was known for his dedication and passion for his work with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, where he served since 2020. He was a thirty-year-old father of two.

Representative Joseph Gullett expressed support for the resolution, saying, "Deputy Cunningham laid down his life to keep Paulding County safe, a sacrifice we will never forget. Naming this intersection after him is a way to ensure his bravery and dedication to our community will always be remembered by those who pass by."

Senator Jason Anavitarte represents Georgia's 31st Senate District, covering Paulding and Polk Counties.
